Therics launches new microdesigned bone void filler

Oct. 22, 2003 – Therics Inc. has launched a microfabricated bone void filler for trauma-related skeletal defects, according to a company release.

Therics, a subsidiary of Tredegar Corp., said TheraFil features a design of calcium salt that creates an interlocking network within the bone defect to promote healing. TheraFil received clearance in July form the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

TheraFil is the second product from Princeton, N.J.-based Therics using its TheriForm microfabrication process, which it licensed from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. TheriRidge, a biocompatible bone replacement, was launched earlier this year.
