May 10, 2005 — Polychromix, a developer of advanced wavelength management solutions, and Ocean Optics, a diversified electro-optics company, have entered into a worldwide distribution agreement. Ocean Optics will distribute Polychromix’s MEMS-based Near Infrared (NIR) Digital Transform Spectrometer (DTS)™ product family, consisting of three spectrometer versions: the DTS-1700 covering the 900-1700 nm range, the DTS-2500 covering the 1700-2500 nm NIR range and the DTS-NB high-resolution version for specific high-resolution applications.
“The optical-sensing market has long demanded the sort of low-cost NIR system that Polychromix now offers,” said Mike Morris, president of Ocean Optics. “The DTS technology is the sort of novel, interesting and affordable technology that makes NIR spectroscopy more accessible to a wider range of users, for an even wider range of applications.”
Spectroscopy is used widely in a broad variety of research and process applications, including material identification, quantitative analysis, purity analysis, quality control and material inspection. Polychromix’s DTS technology uses a MEMS spatial light modulator in a portable form factor, featuring a single InGaAs detector and no moving parts. In addition, the devices feature low power consumption, utilizing a standard USB connection for both communications and power interfaces.
