Texas Instruments joins MEMS Industry Group

April 2, 2003 — Texas Instruments (TI), whose Digital Light Processing technology is among the most successful examples of MEMS in the marketplace, has joined the industry’s trade association.

The Pittsburgh-based MEMS Industry Group (MIG) announced today that TI joined its roster of nearly 40 members, including Honeywell, Corning IntelliSense, Intel and Northrop Grumman. Large companies pay $25,000 a year for membership. Benefits include access to industry data and other nonproprietary information, as well as public lobbying on the industry’s behalf.

“(TI) has been through it all — they are a success story,” said Ellen McDevitt, MIG’s director of member services. “Small-to-medium companies who haven’t achieved commercial success look to these guys as proof it works.”

TI officials said in a written statement that the company will work with the group to boost public awareness and understanding of MEMS technologies and achieve continued commercialization.
