Nov. 12, 2002 — OMM Inc. said ZTE Corp. of China has incorporated OMM’s MEMS-based products into a metro telecommunications system.
Using OMM’s switching modules, ZTE has developed and commercialized an all-optical crossconnect as part of a system for dynamic wavelength management in metropolitan area networks, according to a news release. The all-optical crossconnect ensures the performance of dense wavelength division multiplexing, a technique allowing optical networks to deliver vastly increased quantities of data by sending multiple laser signals down a fiber at different frequencies of light.
ZTE, which trades on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, is China’s largest listed telecommunications equipment maker. OMM is a San Diego-based maker of MEMS-based photonic switching subsystems.
