Lightconnect sells MEMS in China

Dec. 19, 2002 — Lightconnect Inc., a Newark, Calif.-based supplier of MEMS components and modules for optical networks, said it will supply a dynamic gain equalizer to China’s largest listed telecommunications equipment maker.

Lightconnect said its equalizer will reduce total system costs for ZTE Corp. ZTE becomes China’s first optical parts maker to use the technology in its long-haul transport system.

In November, ZTE made a deal to incorporate San Diego-based OMM Inc.’s MEMS switching subsystem into its metro telecommunications system.
