Nov. 21, 2002 — The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and U.S.-based Veeco Instruments Inc. opened a nanometer technology center in Beijing, according to the Xinhua General News Service.
The CAS’ Institute of Chemistry and Veeco will jointly run the center by recruiting Chinese scientists and engineers, as well as providing access to Veeco-made instruments for them. Veeco’s small tech-related tools include atomic force and scanning tunneling microscopes.
CAS said that more than 300 enterprises and 7,000 scientists are working on nanoscience in China, the report said.
