Oct. 17, 2002 — Taiwan has broken ground on a science-based industrial park focusing on nanotechnology, according to the Taiwan News.
Officials hope the Taichung-based complex, as part of a larger high-tech hub in central Taiwan, eventually will create 50,000 jobs and attract $26 billion in investments. Several firms in nanotech, semiconductor and optoelectronics already have expressed interest in the site, the report said.
Construction of the new park is set for completion by the end of next year, allowing firms to open in 2004.
