Report: Nano patents see dramatic rise

Dec. 2, 2002 — More than 800 U.S. patents were issued last year in nanotechnology, up from fewer than 70 in 1990, according to a new report.

Technical Intelligence Profile (TIP): Nano Patenting offers an overview of nano-related patenting, and identifies patenting leaders, new players and a listing of top-ranked patents.

The report, published by the Metrics Group LLC research company, is part of the firm’s TIP series, which uses software to extract and analyze patent data and other information from electronic databases.
