July 18, 2002 — The University of New Mexico has picked a native of the state who has a mix of engineering, research and business experience as its new microsystems chair.
Andres Salazar will fill the PNM Chair in Microsystems, Commercialization and Technology, which was jointly created last year by the university and the PNM (Public Service Co. of New Mexico) Foundation. Salazar, who will take the job this fall, will be a professor in the university’s Anderson Schools of Management and the School of Engineering, according to a news release.
In addition to teaching, Salazar also will work to boost the microsystems industry base in New Mexico, the news release said.
