Oct. 27, 2003 — MEMSCAP SA, a France and Silicon Valley-based MEMS designer and manufacturer, plans to acquire Opsitech SA, a Grenoble, France-based integrated optics firm, according to a news release.
MEMSCAP intends to buy Opsitech for $4.4 million by issuing common shares to Opsitech’s shareholders. The deal is subject to shareholder and regulatory review.
Opsitech is a spinout of CEA-LETI, the French Atomic Energy Commission’s scientific and electronics research lab. MEMSCAP said the planned acquisition includes access to the lab’s intellectual property in silicon integrated optical technologies as well as licensing and R&D agreements, the release said. MEMSCAP said Opsitech’s business model complements GalayOr, the Israeli optics firm MEMSCAP acquired earlier this year.
