Aug. 8, 2002 — The Standards Association of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has formed a working group to develop standards for organic and molecular electronics, according to a news release.
The group is open to anyone interested in helping develop the standard and will have its first meeting on September 18 at IEEE’s offices in Piscataway, N.J. The working group’s first task is to formulate a standard for evaluating organic transistors. Applications could include roll-up flat panel displays, smart cards and biometric sensors. The final standard is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete.
