Oct. 2, 2002 — MEMS can provide a boost to the slumping semiconductor market, according to a new report.
“Market Snapshot: MEMS Fab Equipment,” released this week by In-Stat/MDR, reports that unit growth and device diversity — as well as a large potential customer base — makes the MEMS sector more attractive market for semiconductor equipment manufacturers. More semiconductor parts makers are getting involved in MEMS-specific equipment, with several top suppliers creating divisions focused on MEMS, the report said.
The report, which costs $3,295, includes a list of the companies and the equipment they’ve developed for making MEMS. It also provides unit shipment forecasts by device type and market.
