Oct. 1, 2002 — Samsung Electro-Mechanics Corp. said it plans to sell a unit to focus more on MEMS and other areas, according to EETimes Asia.
The company reportedly will sell its electrolytic capacitor business by year’s end to Samhwa Electric Inc. With the move, Samsung said it will concentrate on photonic devices and related businesses, including MEMS components, radio-frequency modules, image sensors and digital tuners, the report said.
Samsung, based in South Korea, makes and sells parts globally for the electronics industry.
