Microchip Biotechnologies selected for Army program

January 3, 2008 — Microchip Biotechnologies Inc. (MBI) has been selected for participation in the inaugural U.S. Army Commercialization Pilot Program, the company announced in a news release.

The program identifies firms with Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) projects that have a high potential of transitioning to commercial products that meet high-priority Army requirements.

Microchip Biotechnologies was one of 25 firms selected out of 529 eligible and 416 applicants.

MBI has been developing a microfluidic-based biothreat detection system under Army SBIR funding.
