February 14, 2008 – The Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA) has appointed John DiLoreto as the new director of its Nanotechnology SME Coalition, created in 2007 to assist startups, small and medium enterprises (SME) in developing, manufacturing, and using nanoscale materials.
The coalition’s mission is to inform, and provide SME perspective regarding the health, safety, and environmental aspects of nanotechnology to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, and other U.S. agencies.
DiLoreto is the founder of NanoReg, which aims to help companies understand and respond to emerging environmental, health, and safety issues surrounding nanotechnology. He is also the creator and former director of the American Chemistry Council’s Nanotechnology Panel.
