Dry Photoresist Stripper
The Enviro 300-mm Advanced Dry Strip System is a multi-chamber, single-wafer tool that is designed to remove resist and polymer residue by using microwave and low-energy RF plasmas. The product is said to eliminate the need for wet-stripping processes that use hydroxylamine (HA)-based or other types of solvents. Traditional acid treatments, such as H2SO4/H2O2 strips, HF dips or alcohol rinses are not needed. Up to six process gases can be used for resist stripping and residue cleaning.

EMI Feedthrough Filters
This new family of ceramic-chip components combines capacitor and inductor elements in a single distributed constant circuit filter. The W2F Series surface mountable chip filters are the newest of the company's integrated passive components for EMI noise suppression in high-speed applications. Because of the unique construction of a feedthrough capacitor, the chips provide low parallel inductance while providing noise reduction in digital circuits up to nearly 5 GHz.

BGA Line-termination Network
A BGA-compatible SCSI line-termination network is available for use in high-frequency and space-sensitive applications compliant to SPI-2, SPI-3 and above. Designated part number BB1020DT, the network is a nine-line LVD SCSI terminator composed of 27 thick-film resistors on an alumina substrate with BGA terminations. The BGA design is said to reduce capacitance and lead inductance, making the device suitable for high-performance active termination of SCSI networks.
BI Technologies, Fullerton, Calif.

Flexible-handling System
The Semi Automated Component Handling System is said to be a new concept in pick-and-place that is capable of handling a range of die and other components, including those used throughout the SMT business. The system can be used to assemble devices such as single-chip, multi-chip, COB, flip-chip and chip-on-chip. Dice ranging from 0.5 x 0.5 mm up to 25 x 25 mm in size can be handled in all common presentation forms.

Surface Mount Chip Resistors
This series of surface mount resistors, available in standard and nonstandard values capable of dissipating up to 3 W at 70°C, was developed to provide design engineers with a space-saving alternative to wirewound devices. Designated the SC3 Series, these thick-film resistors are said to be less inductive than typical wirewound devices and require 75 percent less board space. The rectangular chips are terminated on the long side, giving them a reverse geometry. These wider terminations reportedly allow the use of wider board traces.

Interface Accessory
The SurfMate is a surface mount interface accessory for use with pin-compatible, second-generation DC-DC converters and accessory modules. Users will have the ability to surface mount high-density DC-DC converters with current ratings up to 100 A. The product uses a pair of surface mounted headers that contain sockets to accept the input and output pins of the converter module. Available for Maxi, Mini and Micro standard module sizes, the product's header assembly is compatible with any thickness PCB and does not increase the module-mounting height above the board.
Vicor Corp., Andover, Mass.

Surface Coating
Said to enhance the physical properties of aluminum components across manufacturing, processing and packaging environments is the Tufram surface coating. This family of coatings reportedly combines the hardness of aluminum-oxide ceramic with the properties of proprietary polymers, providing aluminum parts with hardness, wear and corrosion resistance as well as permanent lubricity. The hardness of treated metals can vary from RC 40 to 65, depending on the alloy used and variety of product chosen.
