New (ad)ventures in Asia

02/01/2001

Excitement abounds here at Advanced Packaging magazine whenever we work on something new. While each and every month we deliver a new magazine to your desk, lately we have also been working on some other projects related to the magazine. Soon we will be bringing a new magazine to our readers in Asia on a regular basis: Advanced Packaging Asia.

This new venture entails a collaborative effort by our colleagues at Arco Publishing in Taiwan, who will take some of the editorial we produce here in the United States and blend it with local news and technical articles from Asia. Based in Taiwan, the magazine will be published five times each year. Four editions of Advanced Packaging Asia will be published in traditional Chinese and one will be in simplified Chinese for distribution in mainland China; each edition will include some English text.

On the flip side, we have the opportunity to publish some of the material found in Advanced Packaging Asia for this edition of the magazine for our U.S. and international readership. This is not an endeavor we take lightly, as many of us have worked on international magazines in the past and will work hard to strike a good balance of editorial coverage between these editions. In the end, we hope that these editions of Advanced Packaging magazine offer a technological and informational bridge between these very important regions in the world of packaging. Along this vein, everyone wins.

The welcome wagon strikes Silicon Valley

This month I would also like to welcome Julia Goldstein as Advanced Packaging magazine's new technical editor. Julia hails from the heart of Silicon Valley, and lucky for us, she will be able to cover meetings and events happening in the Bay Area, on occasion. Already hard at work representing the magazine, Julia recently attended the lead-free summit in early January hosted by MEPTEC and San Jose State University. You can find her report this month within our "In the News" section. Enjoy!

Until next month,
Amy Knutson-Strack
Editor
