Database for die products

07/01/2002

AUSTIN - To assist design engineers working with bare die, the Die Products Consortium (DPC) has created a database of information on available die products. The DPC surveyed 350 suppliers to identify the die products that are available in the marketplace, and the results are contained in a database that includes the die functionality, format and packing media.

Larry Gilg, managing director of the DPC, noted that it was a challenge to collect the information.

"I was really surprised at how difficult it was get the modest amount of information we asked for in the survey," said Gilg. "This underscores the importance of having the information readily available."

Gilg also emphasized that the information in the database is not meant to replace the detailed specifications from suppliers. The database functions primarily as a starting point for designers as they try to identify the products that are available.
