Global semiconductor sales reached $12.54 billion in June 2003, up slightly from the $12.49 billion in revenue reported in May 2003. For 2003's second quarter, chip sales of $37.6 billion were up 3.2 percent from $36.4 billion in the year's first quarter, and up 10.4 percent from the $34.1 billion recorded in the second quarter of 2002.
During the quarter ending in June, computer sales rose almost eight percent on a unit basis year-over-year, the strongest growth since 2000, supporting an 8.2 percent growth in microprocessors. In the wireline sector, strong consumer demand for broadband services contributed to a 15.7 percent year-over-year increase in standard cells and a 27.1 percent increase in programmable logic devices.

The three-month average of worldwide bookings in June 2003 was $720 million. The bookings figure is just below the revised May 2003 level of $724 million, and 39 percent below the $1.17 million in orders posted in June 2002.
