Worldwide sales of semiconductors rose to $16.13 billion in November 2003, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). This is a 4.5 percent increase from the $15.43 billion recorded in October, and a 25.7 percent rise from November 2002.
Rising PC sales are credited with spurring industry growth during November, with DRAM up 4 percent and microprocessors up to 3.5 percent. The global wireless market also continued strong growth.
"November has been another exceptionally strong month for the industry, with the year-on-year growth accelerating to 25.7 percent, indicating that the performance of the second half of 2003 is one of the strongest on record for our industry," says George Scalise, SIA president.

The three-month average of worldwide bookings in November 2003 was $930 million, reports Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI). This bookings figure is 7 percent above the revised October 2003 level of $871 million, and 20 percent above the $777 million in orders posted in November 2002.
In November 2003, the three-month average of worldwide billings was $893 million. This billings figure is 7 percent above the revised October 2003 level of $867 million, and 8.5 percent below the November 2002 level of $976 million.
