Millipore boosts ultrafiltration production

11/01/2004

JAFFREY, N.H. — A 44,000-square-foot membrane casting manufacturing facility, designed to increase production of Millipore Corp.'s ultrafiltration (UF) membranes for biopharmaceutical markets, is now in operation next to the company's existing device plant here.

The addition includes a Class 100,000 contamination control environment, with a wastewater pre-treatment plant located nearby. A 33,000-square-foot warehouse is being constructed to connect the new membrane manufacturing facility to the device plant. Millipore says that all equipment and processes in the UF membrane addition are cGMP-compliant to meet pharmaceutical industry regulatory standards.

According to Pete Kershaw, vice president of worldwide manufacturing operations, "Major biotech customers were involved in the planning of this new facility to help ensure alignment with the highest standards demanded by the industry we serve."

Millipore Corp.'s new membrane-casting facility in Jaffrey, N.H., houses a two-story Class 100,000 controlled environment and state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. All equipment and processes, Millipore says, are cGMP-compliant to meet biopharmaceutical industry regulatory standards.
