Antimicrobial paint product developed for cleanroom use

07/01/2004

NOGALES, Ariz.—A paint with an antimicrobial formula has been developed by Alpha Pro Tech Engineered Products (www.alphaprotech.com) to inhibits growth of bacteria, fungi and algae on painted surfaces in cleanrooms, contamination-control environments, hospitals, and surgical rooms.

The company says its paint has been tested at Nelson Laboratories Inc. (Salt Lake City, Utah; www.nelsonlabs.com), which specializes in microbiology testing, and confirmed in university testing for its containment ability to inhibit micro-organisms. Alpha Pro says it has an exclusive licensing agreement for its proprietary antimicrobial formulation used in the paint.
