Honeywell Electronic Materials, Sunnyvale, CA, has appointed Oliver Shon, formerly general manager of Ashland Taiwan Co. Ltd., as the Greater China sales leader. He will focus on implementing sales strategy in China and strengthening the company's position in Taiwan.

Teradyne, Boston, MA, has promoted John Casey to senior VP responsible for all of its activities in Asia, with Jeffrey Hotchkiss stepping in as president of the company's assembly test division. Casey became a Teradyne VP in 1990 and was appointed CFO in 1997; he left in 2000 to become CEO of spin-off Empirix.

Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, Singapore, has appointed Arthur T.C. Kuo as president for the Americas region, overseeing customer support activities and field engineering as well as day-to-day business operations for the region. He previously held management positions at UMC-USA, United Semiconductor Corp., and S3 Graphic Inc.

Sony Corp., Tokyo, Japan, announced that Michiaki (Mike) Tsurumi will retire as president of Sony Europe, effective April 1. He will be succeeded by Chris Deering, currently president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd. (SCEE). David Reeves, executive VP, sales and marketing, of SCEE became president and COO of that organization as of January 1, and Deering assumed the position of chairman of SCEE, continuing in this role as well after April 1.

Japan-based automated test-equipment supplier Advantest has named Keith Hardwick as acting president of its America operations, taking over for Nick Konidaris, who has resigned to become president and CEO at Electro Scientific Industries. Hardwick has been with Advantest America since 1993, most recently as financial controller. At ESI, Konidaris replaces Barry Harmon, who will remain on ESI's board.

Enthone Inc., West Haven, CT, has appointed Raymond Fong as VP and managing director, Asia-Pacific region. He will be responsible for revenue growth in the Asian market and working with global staff on new product development and operational capabilities.

Saburo Kusama, president of Seiko Epson Corp., was awarded the 2003 Akira Inoue Award for Outstanding Achievement in Environment, Health, and Safety in the Semiconductor Industry at Semicon Japan in December. Kusama was recognized for contributions to EHS policies and practices at Epson that have resulted in reduced energy consumption, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions.
