Genus Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has appointed George Wells and Robert Richardson to its board of directors. Prior to joining Genus' board, Wells was the president and CEO of Exar Corp. For the past three years, Richardson has been the chairman, CEO, and president of Unitrode Corp.

Entegris Inc., Chaska, MN, has promoted John Goodman (right) to CTO. Goodman was previously VP of engineering and technology.

Also, Jim Dauwalter (right) has been promoted to COO. He will retain his position as executive VP.

O.B. Bilous has been named chairman of the International Sematech board of directors. Bilous will succeed William Spencer, who is retiring at the end of the year. Bilous was elected unanimously by the board; at the same meeting, Spencer was named vice chairman. Also, Michael D. Jackson has been named director of front-end processes. Jackson has been an IBM assignee at International Sematech since 1997, serving as thermal/thin films and surface preparation programs manager in the FEP Division.

DuPont Photomasks, Round Rock, TX, has appointed Peter Kirlin CEO and chairman. He comes to DuPont with some 15 years of experience in the chip industry, 12 of which were spent at ATMI, Danbury, CT, where Kirlin was group VP of technologies and services. Kirlin takes over for interim CEO and chairman Marshall Turner, who has held the position since Michael Hardinger stepped down last year. Turner will remain as a member of the board. DuPont also named president and COO Preston Adcox a member of the board.

SemiSales.com, Campbell, CA, has named Robert T. Wall and Laura J. Neish to its board of directors. Wall is president of On Point Developments LLC, and serves on the boards of several high-tech companies. Neish has been managing director of On Point Developments since last year. Also, Howard Citron (right) has been appointed CTO. Prior to joining SemiSales, Citron was executive director of e-business advanced technologies at Bell Atlantic. John Housley has been named VP of marketing and sales. Housley, who has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, was most recently founder and president of Housley & Co.

ATMI Inc., Danbury, CT, has promoted Doug Neugold to president. He was previously executive VP of ATMI Materials. In addition, the company has appointed two new board members. Michael Yomazzo is vice chairman of Photronics Inc., and Doug Marsh is VP of technology development for ASM Lithography Holding NV. The company has also appointed Neil H. Hendricks chief technologist. Prior to joining the company in 1999, Hendricks was director of strategic technologies at AlliedSignal Electronic Materials (now Honeywell).

Chairman of the board and founder Alex d'Arbeloff has retired from Teradyne Inc., Boston, MA. George Chamillard, president and CEO, has been elected to replace him.

SiGe Microsystems, Ottawa, Canada, has appointed several executives. Steve Bower has been named CFO. He has more than 20 years of experience in controllership, accounting, and auditing. Cormac O'Connell has been named VP of the Semiconductor Division. O'Connell joins SiGe from MOSAID Technologies. Carol Tracey has been tapped as director of human resources and administration. She has worked for a number of high-tech firms, including Nitidus Technologies, Accelerix, and PRIOR. David Woo has been appointed director of IC operations. Woo comes to SiGe from IBM, where he held senior management positions in engineering, production manufacturing, and business development.

Olympus Integrated Technologies America Inc., San Jose, CA, a subsidiary of Olympus Optical Ltd., Japan, has appointed Richard Savage CTO. He was most recently VP of R&D at Silicon Valley Group's Thermal Systems Division.

Pall Corp., East Hills, NY, has named Mark Sutter VP of Pall and president of its Critical Filtration Group. Sutter began his 14-year career at Pall as an R&D engineer.

Gary Kapral has joined Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESI), Portland, OR, as corporate VP of the company's vision-based businesses. He joins ESI from the SGL Carbon Group.

Speedline Technologies, Plano, TX, has appointed Paul Knox VP and GM of Speedline ACCEL. Knox comes to ACCEL from Speedline ELECTROVERT, where he was business unit manager of reflow products.

Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc., Willow Grove, PA, has named Dennis Strittmatter (right) VP of e-business. Strittmatter most recently served as senior VP of lifecycle services at Inacom Corp. Morton K. Perchick has been assigned to the Office of the President, where he will continue as executive VP. He joined the company two decades ago as director of quality and reliability. Alexander A. Oscilowski has been promoted to senior VP, Office of the President. Oscilowski joined the company in 1999 as VP, strategic marketing.

SpeedFam-IPEC Inc., Chandler, AZ, has tapped Saket Chadda to lead its CMP technology group. He comes to SpeedFam from Atmel Corp., where he headed the CMP, defect density, and process module integration groups. Chadda replaces Karey Holland, who has started Techcet, a consulting company. Giovanni Nocerino has been named VP of sales, marketing, and service. A 20-year industry veteran, Nocerino was most recently executive VP at CVC (now Veeco Instruments).

Asymtek, Carlsbad, CA, has appointed Thomas Ratledge director of engineering. Before joining the company, Ratledge was a project manager and a senior staff engineer at Hughes Aircraft Co.

Varian Inc., Palo Alto, CA, has named Frederick C. Campbell operations manager for its vacuum technologies facility in Lexington, MA. Campbell was most recently VP of R&D for Mentor Corp.

August Technology, Bloomington, MN, has appointed Dan Nelson (right) product manager for its NSX line of wafer, die, and bump defect inspection stations. Nelson was most recently process development engineer and product manager for silicon pressure sensor technologies at Rosemount Inc. Steve Kampa has been named field applications engineer, based in Japan. He was previously a systems engineer for the Network Solutions Sector at Motorola.

onQ Technology, Austin, TX, has appointed Robert Truesdale engineering manager. Prior to joining onQ, Truesdale spent 17 years at Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector Final Manufacturing Organization.

Watlow Electric Manufacturing Co., St. Louis, MO, has named Bill Kolbeck director of its Semiconductor Solution Center. Kolbeck was GM of Watlow Anafaze.

MKS Instruments Inc., Andover, MA, has appointed Lawrence Bourget (right) director of product marketing for process analysis products. He was most recently director of technology for RTP products at Eaton Corp.

AvantCom Network Inc., San Jose, CA, has appointed Gary Spray VP of strategic sales. Prior to joining AvantCom, Spray was VP of sales and marketing for Semitool.

ASAT Ltd. and ASAT Inc., Fremont, CA, have appointed Jim Healy senior VP of worldwide sales and marketing. Healy has 20 years of experience in managing high-tech companies throughout the world, having held positions at Formfactor, Genus, and Fairchild.

SEMX Corp., Armonk, NJ, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, American Silicon Products (ASP), has named James Wallis VP of sales and marketing. Prior to joining ASP, Wallis was the director of sales and marketing for Komatsu Silicon.

Noah Precision Inc., San Jose, CA, has appointed Doug Ryder VP of sales and marketing. Ryder has held a variety of senior sales and marketing positions, most recently at Boxer Cross and OnTrak Systems.

Electroglas Inc., San Jose, CA, has named Bernard Adams VP of sales for inspection products. Adams was director of worldwide sales at Flip Chip Technologies before joining Electroglas.

Datacon Semiconductor Equipment GmbH, Radfeld, Austria, has appointed Hugo Pristauz director of advanced technology. He was previously senior R&D manager at Computer Process Automation, Graz.

Boxer Cross Inc., Menlo Park, CA, has named Yuval Wasserman senior VP of sales, marketing, and customer support. He was GM of the Fusion Systems Division at Eaton Semiconductor Equipment Operations.

Mentor Technologies Group Inc., Annapolis, MD, has appointed Ann Boland chief administrative officer and VP of human resources. Prior to joining Mentor Technologies, Boland led the internet and high-tech consulting practice for the executive recruiting firm Stanton Chase International.

The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI, has appointed Greg Bauer business development manager of its advanced electronic materials business. He was formerly Western region sales manager at Ashland Specialty Chemicals. Also, Mark McClear has been named global marketing manager for the division. Before joining Dow, McClear was business development director of the semiconductor materials group at Praxair Inc.

Speedline Technologies Inc., Franklin, MA, has appointed Anneli Olila customer satisfaction program manager. She was customer satisfaction coordinator and executive assistant to the VP/GM at Speedline CAMALOT.

Mott Corp., Farmington, CT, has named R.D. Balazy sales manager of the Far East region. Since joining Mott in 1981, Balazy has held various positions in manufacturing, R&D, sales, and marketing.

Matheson Tri-Gas, Montgomery-ville, PA, has named Judy Long director of customer service. Before joining Matheson, she served in various capacities at Calgon Corp., most recently as director of customer service.

Ausimont, Thorofare, NJ, has appointed Daniel J. Fitzgerald national sales manager for the fluorinated fluids division. He previously served as technical sales and marketing manager at McGee Industries.

Rudolph Technologies Inc., Flanders, NJ, has named Donald J.H. van der Laan (right) GM of the company's operations in Europe. Before joining Rudolph, he was managing director of European operations and held sales management positions at Perkin-Elmer Corp. and Silicon Valley Group Inc./SVG Lithography. Neil Bassom has been appointed manager of Rudolph's Expert in Residence (EIR) program. Bassom was previously applications lab manager at Micrion/FEI Co.

Richard Savage has been named chief technology officer at Olympus Integrated Technologies America (OITA), San Jose, CA. He will be responsible for product definition and development for the company's semiconductor equipment business. OITA is a new subsidiary of Olympus Optical, Japan, which is working to jointly develop products with local companies. Most recently, Savage was vice president of research and development at Silicon Valley Group's Thermal Systems Division, Scotts Valley, CA.

Photon Dynamics Inc., San Jose, CA, has appointed Vernie Clark VP of worldwide field operations. Clark comes to Photon Dynamics with more than 30 years of technology and executive management experience in quality assurance, applications, product design, and technology development at IBM.

KLA-Tencor Corp., San Jose, CA, has promoted John Kispert to CFO. Kispert joined the company in 1995 as controller for KLA Instruments' wafer, reticle, and SEMspec inspection divisions. He succeeds retiring executive VP and CFO Bob Boehlke, who will continue to provide strategic guidance and counsel to KLA-Tencor as a senior corporate advisor.

QC Optics Inc., Wilmington, MA, has promoted Guy Johnson to director of manufacturing. Johnson, who joined QC in 1995, has held a variety of positions in the company, including field service engineer, field service manager, system engineer, and documentation control coordinator.

RocketChips Inc., Minneapolis, MN, has promoted Tim Hemken to VP, sales and marketing. Hemken has 18 years of industry experience. Before joining RocketChips in 1998, he held several positions with Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor, and Customer 1st Inc.

Speedline Technologies, Haverhill, MA, has named Ron Overko director of sales support at its Speedline CAMALOT operation in Haverhill. Overko joined CAMALOT in 1994, serving as project manager and sales support manager.

Custom Silicon Configuration Services, Brussels, Belgium, has appointed John Myers key account director. Before joining Custom Silicon Configuration, Myers was a regional manager at Indium Corporation and an international sales manager at Orthodyne Electronics.

Compound Semiconductor Technologies Ltd. (CSP), Glasgow, UK, has named Neil Martin chief executive. Martin was head of semiconductor technology at Scottish Enterprise, and before that, held senior posts at Motorola and Digital.

Tompkins Associates, Raleigh, NC, a total operations consulting firm, has appointed Marco Lara-Garcia as the managing principal of Tompkins Associates de Mexico, Monterrey, Mexico. Lara-Garcia recently received his PhD in industrial engineering from Purdue University.

Unifi Technology Group LLC, Charlotte, NC, has named Christopher Zei director of corporate development. Zei joins Unifi from Raytheon CSI, where he was director of marketing and strategic development.
