Denmark Automation, Sunnyvale, CA, has named Mila Genov president and CEO. She has more than 15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, in a number of executive-level marketing and manufacturing positions and as cofounder of a wafer/FPD robotic transfer systems manufacturer. Mila Genov will also serve as the chairman of Genmark`s board of directors. Ian Raphael has been appointed VP of engineering and GM. He has more than 25 years of experience, most recently as VP of technology and engineering at C&D Semiconductor.
Cybeq Systems, Sunnyvale, CA, has named Dan Kahan COO. A 30-year industry veteran, he was most recently VP of sales and marketing at Strasbaugh.
Osmonics, Minnetonka, MN, has appointed Phil Rolchigo VP of research and development. Earlier this year, he joined Osmonics from Membrex Corp., where he led the development of numerous advanced filtration technologies. Lee Comb has been named VP of engineered products and systems (EP&S). He was formerly director of sales for EP&S. Bjarne Nicolaisen has been promoted to VP International. He was responsible for international sales and marketing. The company has also established five Global Business Units (GBUs) to be headed by current Osmonics executives. Troy Ethen has been named GM at the CrossFlow Membrane and Elements GBU. He was previously GM at the Syracuse, NY, manufacturing site. Clifford Frith has been appointed GM of the Normal Flow Membrane, Filters, Lab Products and Instruments GBU. He was GM at the Bryan, TX, and Livermore and Upland, CA, sites. Roger Miller, recently promoted to VP of marketing and strategy, will be acting GM for the Standard Equipment and Pumps GBU. He joined Osmonics in 1993 as a product manager for pumps. John LaRocco has been named GM of the Fluid Controls and Valves GBU. He was GM of the Milwaukee, WI, facility. Curt Weitnauer has been promoted to GM of the Custom Products Systems and Service GBU. During his 12 years at Osmonics, he has worked in every aspect of engineered products and systems.
Lam Research Corp., Fremont, CA, has appointed James W. Bagley chairman of the board of directors, replacing Roger Emerick, who has retired. Emerick will continue to serve as a director.
Dave Toole, has been elected to the board of directors at SEMI/SEMATECH. He recently left his post as president and CEO of GaSonics International to assume chairmanship of the company.
NOW Technologies, a recently acquired subsidiary of ATMI, Danbury CT, has appointed Terry Nagel president. He is a cofounder of NOW, and was president of the company until its acquisition by ATMI.
Semitool Inc., Kalispell, MT, has named Fabio Gualandris president and CEO. He was formerly director of STMicroelectronics` Automotive Business Unit. Gualandris replaces Ray Thompson, founder of the company, who will remain as chairman of the board.
Shankara Prasad has been appointed director of engineering and technology development at Custom Silicon Configuration Services, Zaventem, Belgium. He was owner and manager of APT International. Frank Huysmans has been named director of sales and marketing. He was business development manager at Nordson Electronics Business Group.
Edward Ginzton, cofounder of Varian Associates Inc., Palo Alto, CA, has passed away after a long illness. A well-
known industry leader, he served the company in various executive roles from 1959 to 1984.
PRI Automation Inc., Billerica, MA, has promoted Mitch Tyson to CEO. He joined PRI in 1990, and was most recently president of the company. Tyson replaced Mord Wiesler, who will continue as chairman.
Aseco Corp., Marlborough, MA, has named Sebastian Sicari CEO. He was formerly president and COO. Sicari assumes the role of Carl Archer, Jr., who will remain as chairman of the board.
Robert M. Butler, founder of Micro Glass Inc. Electronics, Tempe, AZ, recently passed away. Among his contributions to the semiconductor industry, he promoted wafer carrier standardization and designed the first wafer dump transfer system.
Integrated Process Equipment Corp. has named Ralph Hartung COO. He was corporate VP Europe at MEMC Electronic Materials.
Ion Systems, Berkeley, CA, has named Michael L. George senior VP of sales and marketing. Prior to joining the company, he was with Applied Materials for 14 years, where he was most recently involved in improving customer service.
AlliedSignal Electronic Materials, Costa Mesa, AZ, has appointed Bruce Stromstad VP and GM of its AlliedSignal Substrate Technology & Interconnects (ASTI) division. He was VP of domestic and offshore manufacturing at Cirrus Logic. Eric Williams has been promoted to director of marketing and sales for the division. He was director of marketing. Karla Carichner has been appointed director of advanced packaging for ASTI. Before joining the division, she held a variety of positions at LSI Logic.
Speedline Technologies, Franklin, MA, has appointed Gary Burroughs manager of the Speedline Semiconductor Packaging Group. He will report to Larry Timm, VP of sales for the company.
Numerical Technologies Inc., Santa Clara, CA, has appointed Harvey C. Jones to its board of directors. He is a private venture investor and former chairman of Synopsys Inc. William H. Davidow has also been named to the board. He is a founder and partner of Mohr Davidow Ventures.
George Lee and Ron Horwath, have formed Lee, Horwath & Associates LLP, a consulting firm specializing in semiconductor technology and strategic planning issues. They were formerly executives at SEMI.

PDF Solutions Inc., San Jose, CA, has named four new members to its senior executive team. P.K. Mozumder has been appointed VP of performance optimization practice. He was previously a branch manager at the Semiconductor and Process Design Center of Texas Instruments. Paul Marella has been named VP of yield modeling and prediction practice. He was most recently director of product planning and director of applications engineering for the Wafer Inspection Group at KLA-Tencor. P. Steven Melman has been appointed VP of finance and administration and CFO. He was VP of finance and CFO at Animation Science Corp., Business Resource Group. Andrzej Strojwas has been named chief technologist. He was a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.
BTU International, North Billerica, MA, has appointed Steve Hall director of marketing. He was previously employed by Cookson`s MPM Division as director of marketing.
Genus Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has promoted Kenneth Schwanda to VP of finance and acting CFO. He joined the company in 1992 as cost-accounting manager, and was most recently controller.
Veeco Metrology Group, Tucson, AZ, a division of Veeco Instruments Inc., has named Jack Nelson director of worldwide field service. He was field service manager for FEI Co. Frank F. Lutz has been appointed director of customer support. He most recently served as international applications manager for the company.
Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc., Willow Grove, PA, has appointed Larry Wagner senior VP and president of K&S Packaging Materials. He was previously VP of Emcore Electronic Materials, a business of Emcore Corp.
Electro-Graph Inc., Carlsbad, CA, has named James E. Miller sales and marketing manager. Prior to joining Electro-Graph, Miller was senior account manager with Computer Electronics.
Kokusai Semiconductor Equipment Corp., San Jose, CA, has promoted Mark Finocchario to executive VP and GM of its Billerica facility. He was VP of engineering. Bob McCullough, former head of the facility, has retired. He will continue to provide consulting services to the company.
FAS Technologies Ltd., Dallas, TX, has named Eric E. Anderson senior VP and CFO. Prior to joining the company, he was president of Anderson Consulting Inc.
XMR Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed John Miller chief scientist. Miller was lead engineer for the Optical Design Group of the National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
United Microelectronic Corp. has named Christopher A. Bettis VP of information technology and group planning. He was VP/CFO at the defunct Texas Instruments-Hitachi joint venture TwinStar.
Asyst Technologies Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed Dennis R. Riccio senior VP of worldwide sales and service. He was most recently president of North American operations at Novellus Systems.
Kyocera America Inc., San Diego, CA, has named John Schierer manager of human resources. He was director of human resources for Thomas and Betts.
Planar Systems Inc., Beaverton, OR, has named Thomas A. Kingsley VP of global marketing and product development at its business unit Planar Components Group. He has 21 years of experience in technical, sales, and marketing positions electronics with such companies as Xilinx, Gatefield, and NeoCAD Inc.
SensArray Corp., Santa Clara, CA, has appointed Jerry Harmon VP of sales. He has more than 25 years of international business and marketing experience. Harmon will retain his position as VP of human resources and development. Lori Arola has been named director of sales. She was sales manager for the company.
Horiba Instruments, Brackmills, Northampton, UK, has appointed David Pullin customer support engineer. Pullin has a varied background, having held positions as a flight systems engineer, a repair and calibration engineer, and as a technical salesman for electrical harnessing products.
Ulvac Technologies Inc., Methuen, MA, has named Wayne Landman GM of the Western region. Betsy Zajac has been appointed sales engineer. Jeff Delaware has joined the company as senior product engineer. Mike Mitrano has been named design engineering manager. Both Delaware and Mitrano held posts as Lam Research.

RVSI Vanguard, Tucson, AZ, a division of RVSI, has appointed Alex Wei Taiwan country manager. He was previously employed as director of semiconductor and new business development at Schmidt Scientific.
Brad Mattson, CEO of Mattson Technology Inc., recently received the Third Annual Silicon Valley Entrepreneurial Award given by the San Jose Business Journal. Mattson was given the award in the Technical Entrepreneur category for entrepreneurial spirit and performance in the technology industry.
