Cybeq Nano Technologies, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Materials Corp., Tokyo, Japan, has named Dannie Martz CEO. He was a VP at Varian Associates. Martz replaces Yoshio Nishino, who is now chairman of Cybeq Nano and its sister firm Cybeq Systems. K.C. Venugopal has joined Cybeq Nano as director of operations. He was most recently director of engineering at Unisys Corp.
SensArray Corp., Santa Clara, CA, has named Mei Sun VP of sensor research and development. She has more than 20 years of experience developing sensors and instrumentation, and is a 17-year veteran of Luxtron Corp.
Lam Research Corp., Fremont, CA, has promoted Stephen G. Newberry to the position of president and COO. Newberry joined Lam as executive VP and COO last year.

GaSonics International, San Jose, CA, has named Ken Thompson to its board of directors. A 25-year industry veteran, Thompson recently retired as VP of technology, manufacturing engineering at Intel Corp.

Prior to joining the company, he served in executive engi-Anh Hoang neering positions at various companies. Jeffrey Asher has been named VP of worldwide sales and applications engineering. He has had sales, product management, and marketing experience at Raychem, Electronics Division, and Elo Touch Systems. Kimberly Firehammer has been promoted to director of marketing. During her time at Luxtron, she has been responsible for developing a partners program aligning Luxtron with OEMs.
Novellus Systems Inc., San Jose, CA, has elected William R. Spivey to its board of directors. Spivey, group president of Lucent Technologies` Network Products Group, replaces Joseph Van Poppelen, president of Van Poppelen Co., who is retiring after five years of service on the board.
Osmonics, Minnetonka, MN, has promoted Kenton Toomey to executive VP of operations. Toomey joined the company last year as VP of operations. In addition, Osmonics has promoted three executives to VP of special products. A 30-year veteran of the water treatment industry, Wil Pergande is also GM at the company`s Rockland, MA, plant. Rick Lesan was previously assistant to the president for technical development. A.P. Roy Choudhury joined the company in 1995 as assistant to the VP International.
Microbar Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has named Robert B. MacKnight executive VP of business development. He was previously VP and GM of after-market operations for Cymer Inc. George Canavan has been appointed VP of corporage marketing. Canavan was most recently VP of corporate marketing for the CMP, CVD, and etch businesses of Lam Research Corp. Carter Hall has been named director of strategic programs. Microbar tapped Hall from Ultrafab, where he served as VP of operations.
ASM Lithography (ASML), Veldhoven, The Netherlands, has appointed Dave Chavoustie VP in charge of worldwide sales. Prior to joining the company, he was VP of worldwide sales for Advanced Micro Devices` programmable logic device subsidiary, Vantis, and VP and GM of Advanced Micro`s embedded processor division. Chavoustie replaces Doug Marsh, who will be heading a new ASML operation to be announced later this year.

SEMATECH, Austin, TX, has appointed Paul Winebarger director of interconnect. He has 14 years of experience in etch processing at Motorola. Winebarger replaces Jon Dahm, who has returned to Motorola following his assignment with the consortium.

Charles Newton IV has been named plant manager for Olin`s semiconductor process chemicals facility in Mesa. He was operations manager at the facility.
