ShellCase Ltd., Jerusalem, Israel, has named Shlomo Oren managing director and CEO. He has 25 years of management experience in the US and Israel, including 17 years with Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. as corporate VP and managing director of its Israeli facility.

KLA-Tencor Corp., San Jose, CA, has appointed Michael Chuang president of KLA-Tencor Taiwan, a wholly owned subsidiary. He joins the company from Balzers and Leybold, where he established a Taiwan office.

Dryden Engineering Co. Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed Gene J. Sullivan CEO. He joined Dryden in 1982, and was appointed president in 1990. Louis S. Perrone has been named to the company`s board of directors. Perrone is a founder and organizer of Greenwich Advisors Inc., a management consultancy.

Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI), Hauppauge, NY, has named John Arcari CFO. He joined RVSI last year as VP of finance. He replaces CFO Robert Walker, who is retiring.

James J. Greed, Jr. has been appointed to the board of directors of Temptronic Corp. He is president of VLSI Standards Inc., and a past chairman of the SEMI board of directors (1996-1997).

Carl P. Herrmann has been elected to the positions of president, CEO, and chairman of the board at MRS Technology Inc., Chelmsford, MA. He has more than 20 years of management expertise in electronics and high technology systems companies, and established his own strategic management consulting business in 1995. Herrmann replaces Griff Resor, who has resigned.

GaSonics International, San Jose, CA, has appointed Asuri Raghaven president and CEO, replacing Dave Toole, who will assume the role of chairman of the board. Raghaven was formerly Equipment Group president at Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc.

William W. R. Elder has been named Great Britain`s first honorary consul for Silicon Valley. He is founder and chairman of Genus Inc., and serves on the board of directors of AEHR Test Systems.

Novellus Systems Inc., San Jose, CA, has named M.T. Matsumoto president of Nippon Novellus, the company`s wholly owned subsidiary in Kanagawa, Japan. Before joining the company, Matsumoto spent 30 years at Texas Instruments (TI), where he was most recently senior officer of the Manufacturing Science and Technology Center for TI Japan Ltd.

Cymer Inc., San Diego, CA, has promoted Pascal Didier to senior VP of worldwide customer operations. Prior to his promotion, he served as VP of sales and marketing.

Commonwealth Scientific Corp., Alexandria, VA, has appointed Todd Hylton chief technology officer. He was formerly president of Imaginet LLC.

Cerprobe Corp., Gilbert, AZ, has appointed Dennis A. Legal VP of R&D. He has more than 30 years of experience, most recently as VP of engineering at Aseco Corp.

Ken Cavallaro has resigned as president of Fluids Dispensing Systems, Speedline Technologies, Franklin, MA. He will continue to work with the company as a consultant.

Metron Technology, Burlingame, CA, has named Michael A. Grandinetti executive VP of its Materials Division. He previously held several senior management positions with Tylan General Inc., including senior VP, VP of sales and marketing, and VP of marketing.

Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, CA, has named Edward W. Barnholt head of the newly formed Measurement Organization. He was executive VP and GM of the former Test and Measurement Organization. Lewis E. Platt will oversee the Computer Organization on an interim basis, following the departure of Richard E. Belluzzo, former executive VP and GM. Platt is Hewlett-Packard chairman, president, and CEO. Also, Douglas K. Carnahan, a senior VP and GM of the former Measurement Systems Organization, will retire after 30 years with the company.

Analog Devices, Norwood, MA, has appointed Samuel Fuller VP of R&D. Fuller was chief scientist and VP of technology at Digital Equipment Corp. He is also a board member at Analog Devices.

Pall Corp., East Hills, NY, has appointed Steven Chisolm senior VP. He began his tenure with Pall in 1981 as an analyst in the scientific and lab services department, and was most recently corporate VP.

Materials Research Corp., Orangeburg, NY, has named Paul Peirano VP and CFO for its Advanced Materials Division. For the past three years, he has been the company`s European controller in Toulouse, France. David Strauss has been appointed VP of manufacturing for the division. He joined the company in 1990, most recently serving as US Business Unit director.

Rocky Mountain Laboratories, Genesee, CO, has appointed Rebecca Hinton surface scientist. She has experience in semiconductor surface chemistry and thin-film growth, previously holding various scientific research and teaching positions at Southern Illinois University.

Ion Systems, Berkeley, CA, has named J.W. Ahn Korean country manager. He previously spent 10 years at Sudo Premium Engineering in a variety of sales and management positions. Ahn is also the president of Sun Woo Corp. Maureen McCracken has been promoted to director of marketing. In this position , she will develop a market initiative in the semiconductor, flat panel display, and MR head/disk drive industries.

SEMATECH, Austin, TX, has appointed C. Rinn Cleavelin director of front-end processes. He is a Texas Instruments employee on assignment to the consortium. In addition, Cleavelin will co-manage a sub-100-nm processes and materials research intiative with the Semiconductor Research Corp.

Micrion Corp., Peabody, MA, has appointed Steven Berger chief scientist. Before joining Micrion, he was director of engineering at Integrated Solutions Inc.

Controls Corp. of America (CONCOA), Virginia Beach, VA, has appointed Patrick Carlucci VP of sales and marketing. Carlucci was previously employed at Matheson Gas Products, where he held various positions including US sales manager, international sales director, and sales and marketing manager for Latin America.

Joseph W. Clark, cofounder and executive VP of Mathews & Clark Communications Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has passed away after a short illness. He founded the public relations firm in 1975 with Walter Mathews.

CVC, Rochester, NY, has named Judd Prozeller VP of quality. He joined CVC in 1995 as director of quality.

The Electronic Chemicals Division of Ashland Chemical Co., Dublin, OH, has named Chi-San Loh senior technical representative for West Coast applications. Most recently, he was employed at KLA-Tencor Corp., where he served as a senior field applications engineer for the Wafer Inspection Group.

Alfa, a European sister company of US-based Alfa Aesar, Ward Hill, MA, a Johnson Matthey company, has named Justin Snoxall GM. He joined Johnson Matthey in 1997.

Manuela Boin has won second prize in the business plan competition "StartUp" in Wuerttemberg, Germany. The plan, entitled "Development and Marketing of Software Products for the International Semiconductor Industry," describes the planned setup of a company offering products and service to equipment vendors, IC manufacturers, and research institutes.

Tokyo Electron America Inc., Austin, TX, has appointed Don Burkman business unit manager for cleaning systems products. He has nearly 30 years of experience in wet processing and more than 15 years experience in executive management, most recently as VP of business development at SCP Global Technologies.

Planar Display Solutions, Beaverton, OR, has named Richard Prins GM. Most recently, Prins was founder and CEO of MicroPure.

Air Liquide America, Walnut Creek, CA, has promoted Dave Nachreiner to director of Gas-Chem Center operations. He has served as electronic sales and account management chief since July 1995.

ENI, Rochester, NY, a division of Astec America Inc., has named Dan Barnes director of finance. He was previously employed at Guardian Industries., George Altimonda has been appointed VP of human resources. Altimonda was director of compensation and benefits at the West Group.

Varian Associates Inc., Palo Alto, CA, has named Tsuyoshi Naito GM of semiconductor equipment factory and engineering operations for its wholly owned subsidiary, Varian Japan K.K. A 30-year veteran of the industry, he was most recently GM of Semitool Japan. G. Dennis Key has been appointed VP of sales and marketing for Varian`s semiconductor equipment business. He was previously VP of sales and field operations at Lam Research. Gary Mezack has been named marketing manager for ion implant systems at Varian Associates` Gloucester, MA, facility. He was previously manager of the atomic force microscope program at Veeco Instruments.

SCP Global Technologies, Boise, ID, has expanded its management staff. Laurel Smith has been promoted to product marketing manager. She has been with SCP since 1994 as Northwest regional sales manager. Howard Savage has been named 300-mm product manager. He was previously territory sales manager for FSI International Inc. Paul W. Dryer has been appointed applications engineer. He has worked for such companies as Motorola Inc. and Micron Technology Inc. Paul Sadlek has been promoted to wet bench product manager. He has been with SCP more than six years in the software engineering group. Robert Glass has been named director of worldwide sales. He was formerly VP of sales for BOC/Systems Chemistry Inc.

DSM Engineering Plastic Products Inc., Reading, PA, has named Vincent Catalano business development engineer for the Western region of the US. He joined DSM in 1996 as a territory sales representative.

Lam Research Corp., Fremont, CA, has named David Bayly VP of sales and field operations. Prior to joining Lam, he was VP of sales and a corporate officer at Tencor Instruments.

Exsil Inc., San Jose, CA, has named Steven M. Witthoeft VP of sales and marketing. Before joining Exsil, Witthoeft was business director at Customtec.
