Dover Instrument Corp., Westborough, MA, has appointed Michael Townsend president and COO. Townsend joined Dover in 1992, and was most recently VP of sales, marketing, and customer support. He replaces Stephen Hero who will remain as CEO.

Semitool Inc., Kalispell, MT, has appointed Kazi Heinink VP of marketing. Heinink comes to Semitool from SpeedFam-IPEC, where she served as VP of global account management.

Integrated Circuit Engineering Corp., Scottsdale, CA, has appointed Wally Raisanen president and CEO. Raisanen was formerly VP of R&D at Arizona Instrument. He replaces Jerry Karls, who stepped down about six months ago.

Planar Systems Inc., Beaverton, OR, has named Balaji Krishnamurthy president, CEO, and a director of the company. Krishnamurthy joins Planar from Tektronix Inc., where he most recently served as VP and GM of the Television Business Unit, Measurement Business Division.

Credence Systems, Fremont, CA, has appointed Jon D. Tompkins to its board. He has been chairman, president, and CEO of KLA-Tencor and is a member of its board.

Micronic Laser Systems AB, Täby, Sweden, has named Bert Jeppsson president and CEO. He was chairman at Ericsson Components AB.

Imtec Acculine Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has named Paul Mendes VP of sales and marketing. Mendes was previously a sales manager for Verteq Inc.

Surface/Interface Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has appointed Robert Lipari product sales manager for the Stylus NanoProfilometer CD metrology system. Before joining Surface/Interface, he was a sales manager for Metron Technology.

Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (AE), Fort Collins, CO, has named Fred DeSantis senior VP, assistant to the president, and COO. He has held a number of senior executive positions at Burroughs, Unisys, and Siemans. Fred Weaver has been appointed senior VP of operations. Weaver has been with AE since 1997, most recently as head of customer satisfaction. Kevin Thomas has been named VP of customer satisfaction. Thomas has served AE for 11 years; prior to his promotion, he was director of global support.

ATOMIKA Instruments GmbH, Munich, Germany, has promoted several of its employees to positions at ATOMIKA Instruments America Inc. Wolfgang Berneike, formerly product manager in Munich, has been named president. Lanny M. Brown, VP of ATOMIKA Instruments America since 1997, will head sales and marketing. Also, Sanjay Patel has been appointed SIMS application specialist and Mike Murehead has been named manager of technical customer support in the US.

BOC Edwards, Wilmington, MA, has appointed Nigel Hunton and Mohan Warrior joint heads of its Chemical Management Division. Hunton has been with BOC for 15 years; Warrior joins the company after 15 years with Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector, most recently as director of strategic final manufacturing and technology.

Entegris Inc., Chaska, MN, has promoted Richard M. Lemons to senior VP of its Integrated Shipping Systems Business. Lemons served as VP of global sales and marketing for EMPAK Inc. prior to its merger with Fluoroware.

Ashland Distribution Co., Dublin, OH, has appointed David H. Armstrong director of electronic commerce for its operations. Previously, he served as business director of marketing for the Industrial Chemicals & Solvents Division.

Semi Dice Inc., Los Alamitos, CA, has promoted several of its employees. Tony Duong has become operations manager, Linda Peterson has been named material manager, Ky Tin has been promoted to lead technician in the Hi Rel Test Area, and Darin Minter has been appointed marketing manager.

Speedline Technologies Inc., Camdenton, MO, has appointed several new business unit managers to spearhead manufacturing implementation strategies in its ELECTROVERT business division. Tony Foster is director of cleaning products; Bill Boyd is product manager; and Paul Knox is director of reflow products. Also, Steve Glass is director and Keith Howell is product manager for wavesoldering products.

Poco Graphite Co., Decatur, TX, has appointed Elizabeth Bogle-Rohwer applications engineer for semiconductor OEM customers. She most recently led the global customer equipment technology effort.

Rite Track, Cincinnati, OH, has named Ted Bettes product manager. Prior to joining Rite Track, Bettes held several key positions at Silicon Valley Group, including senior product manager.

Indium Corp. of America, Utica, NY, has appointed Charles Less VP of marketing. He was most recently VP of marketing for Ferro Corp.

Rudolph Technologies Inc., Flanders, NJ, has named Matthew J. Smith director of domestic sales. Smith has more than 15 years of experience, including sales, business management, and product management positions at Leica Inc., Nikon Instrument Group, and Metric Resources Inc.

Wilden Pump & Engineering Co., Grand Terrace, CA, has named Anna Barbarossa marketing support technician. She will manage the sales lead database.

Photon Dynamics Inc., San Jose, CA, has appointed Bruce P. Delmore VP of marketing, strategy, and business development. Prior to joining the company, Delmore was president of The Strategos Group, a strategy consulting firm.

Lam Research Corp., Fremont, CA, has named Steven A. Lindsay VP of corporate marketing. Lindsay has 32 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, most recently as president of Applied Materials North America and group VP of Applied Materials Inc.

SiliconTech Inc., Santa Ana, CA, has appointed Todd Rovazzini director of marketing. For the past nine years, he has served as GM, VP, and director at a number of memory companies. John Belfiore has been named memory needs account manager. He has more than 11 years of memory industry experience.

Lepel Corp., Edgewood, NY, has promoted Ray Ariss to semiconductor business director. He was Western Region sales manager.
