Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Santa Clara, CA, and The Kinetics Group Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of US Filter Corp., have appointed several executive officers to their new joint venture, TRiMEGA Electronics LLC. Dean T. Duffy has been named president. He was previously director of Air Products Electronics Asia. Ian MacLaren, former president of microKINETICS Inc., has been tapped as VP of sales and marketing. Edward C. Shober has been appointed VP of engineering and operations. He most recently served as manager of Air Products' Electronics Packaged Plants Group. Robert V. Pragada, formerly director of sales for Kinetics' Asia Pacific operations, and Steven P. Pastore, manager of Air Products' Fab Development Group, have been named project support managers. Jeffrey Harrison has been appointed director of finance. Prior to this assignment, Harrison served as financial manager for The Kinetics Group.

Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc., Willow Grove, PA, has appointed Alexander A. Oscilowski VP of strategic marketing. He was VP and COO of International Sematech.

AlliedSignal Electronic Materials, Los Gatos, CA, has named Marijn Dekkers president. Dekkers, a four-year veteran of the company, most recently held the post of VP and GM of fluorine products in the specialty chemicals unit. He replaces Geoff Wild, who has stepped down from the position.

ASM International N.V., Bilthoven, The Netherlands, has appointed Ernst Granneman head of its RTP new product group in the Front-End Division. He was CTO of the division.Ivo Raaijmakers will succeed Granneman as CTO in the Front-End. He is the former manager of research and development at ASM America.

August Technology, Edina, MN, has named Tom Velin CFO. He brings more than 15 years of experience to the position.

Bill Smeaton has been appointed product manager for the NSX series of automated 100% micro defect inspection systems for wafers and die. He has over 12 years experience in IC fabrication and semiconductor equipment development. Mike Goodrich has been named manager of the Customer Service Group. He most recently worked in etch and deposition equipment customer service at Lam Research.

Silicon Valley ChemLabs Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has appointed Fred Mirzaie process solutions specialist. Mirzaie joins the company from Hewlett Packard Labs.

Sumitomo Sitix Silicon Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed Matajiro Nagashima chairman and CEO of the company. Nagashima was previously CEO at Sumitomo Sitix, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Sitix Silicon.

Cognex Corp., Natick, MA, has promoted Robert Cuneo to executive director of engineering services for the company's Modular Vision Systems Division (MVSD). Cuneo joined Cognex in 1998 as director of quality assurance. Steven N. Goodspeed has been promoted to director of hardware engineering for the MVSD. He was most recently senior hardware development manager.

Peter Chang has been named CEO of foundry operations for UMC Group, Taipei, Taiwan. He is currently president of UMC Group company United Semiconductor Corp.

ESEC, Cham, Switzerland, has named Felix Bagdasarjanz a member of its board of directors. Bagdasarjanz took over as CEO of the company earlier this year.

Tru-Si Technologies Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has named Ed Korczynski director of marketing. He was most recently a senior technical editor at Solid State Technology.
