Genus Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has appointed James T. Healy president and CEO. Healy has more than 20 years` experience in executive management positions in the semiconductor industry, most recently as president of Credence Systems. Before joining Credence, Healy cofounded Trillium Corp. and held senior management positions with GenRad Semiconductor Test Inc. and Fairchild Test Systems Group. William W.R. Elder, founder of Genus, will remain with the company as chairman.
Alphatec Group, Santa Clara, CA, has named Paul T. Lin VP of product management. He was formerly president of Aptos Corp., and, before that, held posi-
tions in wafer fabrication and IC packaging at Motorola. He has more than 30 years of semiconductor industry experience, and holds more than 40 US patents. In addition, Ven R. Holalkere has been appointed director of package development. Prior to joining Alphatec, he was a member of the technical staff at Fujitsu Computer Packaging Technology Inc.,
a subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd. of Japan. He also held engineering positions in semiconductor packaging R&D at Amdahl Corp. and National Semiconductor.
Remy Aubert, cofounder and president of Continuum, Santa Clara, CA, has resigned to pursue other interests. He will remain with the company as a member of the board of directors. Hiroshi Suzuki, president of HOYA USA and chairman of the board of Continuum, has been named interim president.
Process Control Technologies Inc., Addison, IL, has named David A. Sands president and CEO. He was formerly VP of Heller Financial.
Derrick N. Key has resigned from the board of directors of Tylan General Inc., San Diego, CA. He is chairman, CEO, and president of Roper Industries.
AG Associates, San Jose, CA, has promoted Robert Bogart to VP of engineering programs. Bogart was previously director of engineering. In addition, Duane McCallister has been appointed VP of operations and customer support. He formerly served as VP of operations.

Scott Deferrari, president and COO of Plasma-Therm Inc., St. Petersburg, FL, is taking a medical leave of absence from the company for approximately 60-90 days. During this period, Ronald H. Deferrari, Plasma-Therm`s CEO and chairman, will serve as acting president, and Curt Barratt, VP and chief technical officer, will serve as acting COO.

He was formerly program leader for the Advanced Microtechnology Program at Lawrence Livermore National Lab, and is the recipient of nine R&D 100 awards recognizing significant technical achievement. In addition, John Denzel has been appointed VP of manufacturing. Denzel has over 15 years of manufacturing and business experience, most recently as VP of Trend Plastics Inc.
Silicon Valley Group (SVG), San Jose, CA, has named Hilario Oh to the newly created position of VP of corporate quality and productivity. Oh has nearly 30 years of manufacturing experience, most recently as a General Motors Corp. senior scientist. In addition, Reese M. Reynolds has been appointed VP of process technology for SVG`s Track Systems Division. He worked previously at Varian Associates and has more than 20 years of semiconductor operations and technology experience.
Tefen USA, Foster City, CA, has appointed Dror Levy VP of Far East operations. He joined Tefen in 1990, and was previously VP of operations at Tefen Group Ltd. in northern Israel, parent company of Tefen USA.
Fullman Co., Portland, OR, has promoted Richard Smoke to VP. Smoke has more than 23 years` experience in the mechanical construction industry; he
has worked at the Fullman Co. for the past three years.
Varian Associates Inc., Palo Alto, CA, has elected Robert W. Dutton to its board of directors. He is the head of Stanford University`s Center for Integrated Systems, and replaces Philip J. Quigley, who has resigned. Jon D. Tompkins, chairman, president, and CEO of Tencor Instruments Inc., has been elected an advisory director.

Rygler has been promoted to executive VP of worldwide marketing and strategic planning. He was executive VP of marketing and sales. Craig Kokjohn has been named VP of US sales. Kokjohn was VP of US operations.
Richard J. Elkus, Jr., has been named to the board of directors at OnTrak Systems Inc., San Jose, CA. He is vice chairman and executive VP at Tencor Instruments, and was previously chairman and CEO of Prometrix Corp., which he cofounded in 1983.
Bill Starks has been appointed systems engineering director at CVC Products Inc. Prior to joining CVC, Starks held a number of management positions at Varian Associates, most recently chief technical architect, Thin-Film Systems Division.

Whittaker most recently worked in various positions in the Semiconductor CIM Division at Teradyne, including product manager for the Factory Integrated Resource Management System product line.
Kyocera America Inc., San Diego, CA, has named Larry E. White GM, quality assurance, for its ceramic IC package manufacturing operation. Before joining Kyocera, White was VP of quality assurance for Bourns Inc., Integrated Technologies Division.
TYECIN Systems Inc., Los Altos, CA, has named Robert O. Miller manager of business development for its enterprise optimization product. Miller has more than 30 years of experience in high-technology semiconductor fabrication, packaging, and strategic planning, most recently as director of corporate advanced integrated circuit packaging technolgy at LSI Logic.
KLA Instruments Corp., has promoted Edward C. Grady VP and GM of its Reticle and Photomask Inspection Division (RAPID). Grady joined KLA as VP of advanced programs in 1995, and was most recently VP of marketing for RAPID.

In addition, Keith Hopwood has been promoted to director of marketing. He was director of DC-DC marketing. Masa Kinebuchi has been appointed director of quality assurance. He has held a variety of engineering and quality positions at Lambda since joining the company in 1976. Ray Gotelli has been promoted to director of sales. He was previously area sales manager.
Thermo Electric, Saddle Brook, NJ, has appointed Jeff Jablin sensor engineering manager of its Sensor Division. Jablin was previously a project/development engineer with Chromalloy Research and Technology Division. Before that, he was a mechanical engineer and quality assurance manager for Spectrex Ltd. In addition, Paul Swirla has been named national sales manager. Before joining Thermo Electric, he held regional sales manager positions at Cowan Dynamics and Parker Hannifin Corp. Chuck E. Koegel has been promoted to manager of product development, Sensor Division. Koegel was most recently instrument engineering manager at Thermo Electric, a position he held since 1984.

Linear Technology Corp., Milpitas, CA, has named Larry Francis managing director of Linear Technology Pte. (Ltd.) in Singapore. Francis has served Linear in a number of positions, most recently as operations manager of test, assembly, and end-of-line operations. Norman Higashi has taken over this position after stepping down as managing director of Linear in Singapore.
