Integrated Packaging Assembly Corp., San Jose, CA, has named Patrick Verderico executive VP and COO. He has more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with such companies as Maxtor Corp., Cypress Semiconductor, and Philips Semiconductor.

Trikon Technologies, Chatsworth, CA, has appointed two directors to its board. Ken Levy is chairman of KLA-Tencor`s board, and a director of Ultratech Stepper, Network Peripherals, Integrated Process Equipment Corp., and SEMI. Roger McDaniel is CEO of MEMC Electronic Materials and past chairman and current member of the board of SEMI.

Suss Advanced Lithography Inc., Waterbury Center, VT, has named Nancy Rowden Brock CFO. Before joining the company, she was CFO of Chittenden Corp. for eight years. She was recently named one of 12 fellows by the Leadership Foundation of the International Women`s Forum.

Nikon`s executive VP Shoichiro Yoshida has been appointed vice chairman of SEMI`s board for the 1997-1998 term. He is SEMI`s first Japanese vice chair. He has served on SEMI`s board since 1990 and will become chairman after one year as vice chairman.

Watkins-Johnson Co., Scotts Valley, CA, has promoted Matthew Watson to VP of new business development and strategic marketing. He was formerly VP of plasma engineering. James A. Bondur was promoted to VP of R&D. He was director of plasma R&D. Mark J. Danna was promoted to VP of design engineering. He was VP of atmospheric-pressure engineering. Avishay Katz was named VP and chief technical officer of the company`s Semiconductor Equipment Group. He most recently

served as manager of power electronics strategic R&D with the Electric Power Research Institute. Also, Dennis M. Cullen has been named director of human resources for the Semiconductor Equipment Group. He was VP of human resources for The Harper Group.

Burr-Brown Corp., Tucson, AZ, has appointed Kenneth Wolf executive VP of worldwide operations. He was formerly VP of National Semiconductor`s Logic Products Business Unit.

Cybeq Nano Technologies, San Jose, CA, has named Paul Segal COO. He was recently director and VP of sales at Materials Research Corp.

John Campanale has joined Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc., Willow Grove, PA, as VP of factory systems. He has 30 years of experience in automation, systems engineering, and product development in the semiconductor and process industries, and was previously director of manufacturing systems software at Texas Instruments.

Robert G. Deuster, president and CEO of Newport Corporation, Irvine, CA, has assumed the additional position of chairman. Before joining the company in 1996, he was a senior executive with Applied Power Inc. Deuster succeeds Richard E. Schmidt who will remain as a member of the company`s board.

FINLE Technologies Inc., Austin, TX, has named Dan Hansen VP of software development. He has more than 12 years of experience, most recently as director of software development for Spyglass.

Kenton C. Toomey was named VP of operations at Osmonics, Minnetonka, MN. He most recently served as VP of operations for DeZurik, a division of General Signal Co.

Stewart R. Chalmers has been named VP and COO of Mathews & Clark Communications, Sunnyvale, CA. He joined the company in 1993 as an account manager.

Newport Wafer-Fab Ltd., Wales, UK, has named Steve Della Rocchetta executive VP and COO. He will found the company`s first US branch office in San Jose, CA. He was most recently VP of sales and marketing at InterConnect Technology, based in Malaysia.

Cognex Corp., Natick, MA, has appointed James M. Quinlivan director of materials and operations. Before joining Cognex as manager of planning and production

in 1996, he was corporate manufacturing manager at Stratus Computer Inc., where he also held a variety of other manufacturing roles. Also, Paul R. Norman has been named corporate controller. He was most recently controller at Globe Newspaper Co.

The Semiconductor Industry Association has named Apple Computer executive VP of operations George Scalise as its new president. Scalise succeeds Tom Armstrong, who stepped down earlier this year. Scalise has served on the SIA`s Public Policy Committee and has been on the board of SEMATECH and the Semiconductor Research Corp.

Fairchild Technologies, Fremont, CA, has named Paul Shirra VP of sales for North America. He was formerly with Silicon Valley Group, and spent 11 years as director of marketing at Hughes Aircraft. Werner Rust, former GaSonics International senior executive, was appointed general manager of Fairchild`s newly created Intermetal Dielectric Products Group.

Microbar Inc., Santa Clara, CA, has appointed Darlene Gardner VP of operations. She most recently served as VP of operations for Lightwave Electronics, and was plant manager for Rosemont Analytical. Also, Will Sutherland has been named systems engineering manager. He previously worked for Matheson Electronics Products Group, where he held various management positions.

MKS Instruments Inc., Andover, MA, has appointed Joseph Maher VP of the Process Control Instrumentation Group. He was formerly a VP at Lam Research Corp. Maher replaces Jim Loan, who has become a part of MKS` Corporate Core Technology Team.

Fusion Systems Corp., Rockville, MD, has appointed Yuval Wasserman to VP of marketing and advanced technology. He was most recently VP of technology at AG Associates.

SpeedFam International Inc., Chandler, AZ, has promoted president and COO Makoto Kouzuma to CEO, replacing James N. Farley, who will remain as chairman of the board.

Leica Inc., Deerfield, IL, has named Henry B. Smith III president of Leica Microscopy Group, North America. He comes to Leica from Becton, Dickinson & Co., where he held various executive positions.

Cymer Inc., San Diego, CA, a supplier of DUV solutions for photolithography applications, has named four laser technology scientists from around the world to its corporate applied technology staff. Alex Ershov was chief process scientist at Photron Corp. Thomas Hofmann held positions at the National Center for Laser Research in The Netherlands and at Laser Zentrum Hannover in Germany. Herve Besaucele held positions at SOPRA S.A., Paris, France, and at Laserdot, Marcoussis, France. Mengxiong Gong has 14 years of experience in lasers, spectroscopy, and semiconductor processes.

Craig S. Jennings has been promoted to president of Motoman Inc., Dayton, OH. Jennings joined Motoman in 1989, and most recently served as executive VP.

Credence Systems Corp., Fremont, CA, has named Victor H. Okumoto general counsel. He joins Credence from the law firm Majestic, Parsons, Siebert & Hsue.

Matrix Integrated Systems Inc., Richmond, CA, has appointed Joseph J. Blair VP of sales and marketing. He was recently director of North American and European sales for Plasma & Materials Technologies Inc. Also, Gerald M. Cox was named VP of engineering and technology. He spent 20 years at Texas Instruments, primarily in the Process Automation Center, Dallas.

Solvay Interox Inc., Houston, TX, has named William T. Barnes North American product manager of semiconductor grades for the company`s new Semiconductor Business Unit. Barnes most recently served on the company`s management team for the SAP integrated business systems conversion project.

PRI Automation Inc., Billerica, MA, has promoted John M. Chrisos to VP of marketing. He recently served as director of marketing. Before joining PRI, he was director of marketing and sales at Ulvac Technologies` Semiconductor Division.

Novellus Systems Inc., San Jose, CA, has named Richard A. Aurelio to its board of directors. He is executive VP and president of the Semiconductor Equipment business of Varian Associates Inc.

Triant Technologies Inc., Vancouver, BC, Canada, has appointed Francis St. Pierre manager of business development. He was marketing manager for the IBM Wave Group, a division of IBM Canada. Christine Sayre has been named technical development manager. She previously held senior positions at Bell-Northern Research, CVC Products Inc., and Brooks Automation Canada. Alan Vandenbussche has been appointed sales manager. Before joining Triant, he worked for Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd. as sales engineer.

Palomar Products Inc., Carlsbad, CA, in reorganizing its applications engineering team, has named Jeff King head of the bonding applications engineering team, while Mike Szuch will head the welding and reflow soldering applications.

AlliedSignal Inc., Santa Clara, CA, has appointed Curt Clawson president of its Laminate Systems business, which is part of AlliedSignal Electronic Materials. Clawson was most recently president of AlliedSignal Filters and Spark Plugs.

Hana Microelectronics, San Jose, CA, has appointed Hubert Meier managing director of its Hong Kong division Hana Technologies Ltd. He was recently the managing director and VP of Asia Pacific sales for the TEMIC Semiconductor Group.

Rick Dock has been named VP of sales for Cascade Microtech, Beaverton, OR. Dock was most recently manager of Cascade`s Probing Systems Business Unit.

Auto-Soft Corp., Salt Lake City, UT, has named Steven E. Barlow senior VP and chief operating officer. Before joining Auto-Soft in 1993 as corporate VP, Barlow was VP of marketing and sales for Eaton Kenway Inc.

Reedholm Instruments, Georgetown, TX, has hired Ehren T. Achee as senior wafer level reliability engineer. Achee has several years of experience in product and process reliability.

Cambridge Display Technology, Cambridge, UK, has appointed Richard Friend research and development director. He will retain his position as Cavendish Professor of Physics at the University of Cambridge.

Charles V. Fulmer has been named marketing and business manager at Teledyne Brown Engineering`s Hastings Instruments, Hampton, VA. He was marketing and business manager for a division of Robertshaw Corp.

Comdisco Electronics Group, a division of Comdisco Inc., has appointed Christopher Noe ATE product manager. He was major account manager at Teradyne Inc. Also, Yuichi Otsuka has been named select account manager, Japanese Accounts-America. He was business development manager for Japanese accounts at Motorola Semiconductor Products.

Ashland Chemical Co., Dublin, OH, has appointed Tony C. Chao Asian business development manager for its Electronic Chemicals Division. He was most recently chief representative and regional manager for Lincoln Electric Co. Curtis D. Dove has been named plant manager of the division`s new Pueblo, CO, facility. He was previously plant manager for the division`s Dallas, TX, operations. He is succeeded in the Dallas position by Paul V. Burke, who was plant manager of the division`s Newark, CA, plant. Also, Dawn L. Ward has been appointed business director of the division`s Ashland-ACT unit. She has more than 17 years of research and development, technical support, and management experience in the microelectronics industry. Tom Kloffenstein has been named business manager for the division`s West Coast Applications Laboratory. He was most recently director of engineering services for Advanced Chemical Systems International (ACSI). Janet Bayer has been appointed Ashland-ACT`s new applications engineer. She was formerly an applications engineer with ACSI.

CVC, Rochester, NY, has appointed Boris Relja marketing director of semiconductor products. During his 25-year career in the semiconductor industry, he has held numerous positions within marketing, product line general management, and engineering at Varian Associates and Siemens.

Therma-Wave Inc., Fremont, CA, has promoted three executives. James Rhoades has been appointed VP of sales. He was director of international sales. Robert T. Germain has been named manager of international sales. He was formerly manager of Asian sales. William E. Warren has been named national sales manager. He was Western regional sales manager.

Veeco Surface Metrology, Santa Barbara, CA, has appointed Brad D. Andersen regional account manager for California and the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Veeco, he was a regional manager for Tegal Corp.

TELEVAC, Hungtingdon Valley, PA, has promoted Richard Glazewski to sales manager of vacuum products. He has served TELEVAC since 1993 as sales/product manager.

He has 15 years of experience at Palomar Industries, a former assembly and test division of Hughes, in various engineering and management positions. He was most recently senior applications engineer. ENI, Rochester, NY, a division of Astec America Inc., has named Hoss Hamidi key account sales manager for major original equipment manufacturer accounts. He has more than 25 years of semiconductor industry experience, most recently as key account manager at MKS Instruments.

Solution Technology Inc. (STI), Monroe, NC, has appointed Robert Rhoades manager of applications technology for CMP. Prior to joining STI, Rhoades worked as senior process engineer at Motorola`s MOS11.

CFM Technologies Inc., West Chester, PA, has named Richie Lim regional sales manager for Southeast Asia. Prior to joining CFM, Lim worked at SGS-Thomson, Metron, and ADE Corp.

US Filter Corp., Lowell, MA, has appointed Joyce Bellefeuille product manager for continuous deionization systems. Before joining US Filter, she held worldwide product management positions at Amicon and Millipore Corp.
