Wolfgang Dondorf has been promoted to president and CEO of Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology Inc., Nashua, NH. He will continue to serve as managing director of Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology AG in Germany. Before joining Pfeiffer, he held management and executive positions with King Plastic GmbH, and Sprague Electric Inc.

J. Mark Bird has been elected chairperson of the EIA/JEDEC JC-11.11 Microelectronics Plastic Package Subcommittee. He is director of corporate standards at Amkor Electronics.

Sputtered Films Inc., Santa Barbara, CA, has named Thomas Alvarez CFO. He has 17 years of experience in corporate finance at such companies as Harman/Kardon, The MacNeal-Schwendler Corp., and Coopers & Lybrand.

PRI Automation Inc., Billerica, MA, has appointed Stephen D. Allison CFO. He was most recently VP and CFO at Helix Corp. Also, Robert L. Klimm has been named VP of operations. He was GM of the Implant Systems Division at Eaton Corp.`s Semiconductor Equipment Operations.

The Center for Commercial Component Insertion, Spring Lake Heights, NJ, has appointed Edward B. Hakim president and manager of consultant projects. He was with the Department of the Army for 35 years.

Cascade Microtech Inc., Beaverton, OR, has named Bruce McFadden president and COO. He has more than 16 years of management experience at such companies as GE and Graco Inc. Also, Bob Jamison has been appointed North American sales director. Prior to joining Cascade, he was sales manager at Karl Suss.

MOSAID Technologies Inc., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, has appointed Betty Prince to its board of directors. She has 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, and is president of Memory Strategies International.

TYECIN Systems Inc., Lost Altos, CA, has appointed James Healy to its board of directors. He is president and CEO of Genus Inc. Also, John DeBolt has been named VP of engineering. He has more than 27 years of experience in product manufacturing and computer and process engineering, most recently as program manager at Siliconix.

Electro Scientific Industries Inc., Portland, OR, has named John R. Kurdock group VP and GM of Portland operations. He was VP of the Surface Mount Division of Universal Instruments.

Newport Corp., Irvine, CA, has promoted Jeffrey L. Cannon to VP and GM of the company`s domestic Precision Motion Systems Division. He joined Newport in 1995 as director of the Klinger Systems Group.

CVC Products, Rochester, NY, has appointed Michael Meyers information and technology director. Prior to joining the company, he held information systems management position at AutoSoft, AGS Information Services, and PSI Inc.

Dee DeFerrari, senior VP and corporate secretary of Plasma-Therm Inc., St. Petersburg, FL, is leaving the company at the end of the summer after seven years of service. She will act as a consultant on an as-needed basis.

Genus Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has named Mary F. Bobel executive VP and CFO. She was VP and CFO at Educational Publishing Corp. She replaces Ernest P. Quinones.

Smart Machines, San Jose, CA, has appointed James Hogan VP of product and service delivery. He has more than 20 years of experience in semiconductor, tester manufacturing, and semiconductor manufacturing software systems at Cadence Design Systems and National Semiconductor. Greg Weiner has been appointed director of sales. He was Western regional sales manager at Veeco Instruments. In addition, Sharon Andres has been named controller of finance. She was formerly controller at Uniforum and Luxtron Corp.

Novellus Systems Inc., San Jose, CA, has appointed Robert S. Case VP and COO of Nippon Novellus, a wholly owned subsidiary. LSI Logic Corp., Milpitas, CA, has appointed Bryon Look as VP of corporate development. Prior to joining the company, he held several management positions in finance and R & D at Hewlett-Packard.

Millipore Corp., Bedford, MA, has announced a number of management changes in its Microelectronics Division after the company`s recent acquisition of Tylan General, San Diego, CA. Timothy Brown, formerly of Tylan, has been named head of the division`s gas process solution business. Ruby Chandy of Millipore has been named head of liquid process solutions. Scott Cronk of Tylan was appointed head of strategic planning and business development. Robert Saturley of Millipore will oversee finance and business analysis operations. Yumiko Damashek of Tylan will head Asia/Japan business analysis and development. In addition, Virgil Erwin of Millipore will head sales, service, and field operations in North America and Europe. Kazumi Sato of Millipore will head these activities in Japan and Asia.

Semi Dice, Los Alamitos, CA, has promoted John Anton to VP of operations at its Los Alamitos headquarters. He was previously operations manager. Also, Dan Cormack has been promoted to division manager for the Semi Dice California Division. He was regional sales manager at Los Alamitos.

Aeronex, San Diego, CA, has named Dan Alvarez research and development manager for the Gatekeeper purifier line. He was senior research chemist at 3M Corporate Research Labs.

Chris Menicou has been appointed director of quality at Credence Systems Corp., Fremont, CA. He has more than 17 years of experience in the ATE industry, most recently as director of quality for the Trillium Division of LTX.

Knights Technology Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has named David Guidry product manager for the YieldManager yield-enhancement system. He was a senior device engineer at Altera Corp. Also, Scott Shen has been promoted to product manager for Merlin`s Framework software. He joined Knights in 1990 as a senior application engineer.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, has announced that NIST director Arati Prabhakar will be leaving government service for the private sector. Robert Hebner, who has been acting director since January, will continue to serve in that capacity.

The Engineered Systems Division of Kinetico Inc., Newbury, OH, has named Jeff Burrows technical sales representative. He has over nine years of experience in water and waste treatment, project management, installation supervision, and chemical operations. Also, Michael Brewin has been appointed technical sales representative at the company`s Western regional sales office in California. Anne Chasse has been named account representative at the same office.

GEL-PAK, Sunnyvale, CA, has promoted Chris Brodie to VP of manufacturing. He was operations manager. Also, Monte Laskosky has been named applications engineer. He was previously a failure analysis engineer in R & D at Stormedia.

She has more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor manufacturing and capital equipment industries, most recently as president and founder of FAI, a sales and distribution firm for ion beam and chemically assisted etching capital equipment.
