Asyst Technologies Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed two executives to its board of directors. Ashok K. Sinha is president of Applied Materials` CVD product Ashok Sinha business group. Stanley J. Grubel is CEO at MiCRUS. Also, Ramesh Balakrishnan has been named VP of product development for Asyst`s software subsidiary, Asyst Software Inc. He was most recently application products director for Measurex Corp.
Mattson Technology Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed Ralph S. Martin president. He was VP and COO. Prior to joining Mattson in 1989, he held a number of management positions at Novellus Systems Inc., GCA Corp., MIT, and LFE Corp.
Genus Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has promoted Eric Newton to VP and GM of the Thin-Film Product Group. Newton joined the company in 1988 as director of manufacturing, and was most recently VP of operations. In addition, Travis Gray has been promoted to director of strategic accounts. He was a district sales manager at Credence Systems before joining Genus in 1993.
Equipe Technologies Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has promoted Robert de Neve to VP of operations. He joined Equipe as director of operations in 1996, and was previously manufacturing systems project manager in the Wafer Inspection Division of Tencor Instruments.

He was previously senior VP of worldwide business development at Watkins-Johnson. Robert G. Ozarski has been appointed VP of engineering. He was most recently director of engineering and production in the Silicon Etch Division of Applied Materials Inc. Kenneth J. Rebitz has been named director of marketing. He has more than 17 years of experience in the semiconductor and equipment industry.
Lam Research Corp., Fremont, CA, has named Mercedes Johnson VP and CFO. She was previously VP and worldwide operations controller at Applied Materials Inc. Johnson succeeds the retiring Henk Evenhuis.
Naoko Tani has been appointed VP of standards at SEMI Japan, Tokyo. Prior to her appointment, she was marketing manager for SEMI`s Japan operations.
Quester Technology, Fremont, CA, has appointed Thomas Galantowicz VP of engineering. He is the former director of the Electronics Technology Center at Aerospace Corp. Galantowicz succeeds Herb Henderson, who is retiring. Also, Robert Susie has been promoted to VP of opertations. He was director of operations. Joseph Ellul has been named director of process technology. He was senior manager of Flat Panel Division process technology and integration at Watkins-Johnson Co.
Fusion Systems, Rockville, MD, has named Daniel Bianchi, Jr., VP of manufacturing at its Fusion Semiconductor Systems Corp. subsidiary. He was most recently plant manager at Bose Corp.
Praxair Inc., Danbury, CT, has appointed Conrad T. Sorenson director of its Advanced Semiconductor Research Program. He was previously director of contamination-free manufacturing, environment, safety, health, and facilities at SEMI/SEMATECH.
ESEC Group, Cham, Switzerland, has named Karl Zurfluh GM of AMTI, its subsidiary in Melbourne, FL. He was previously VP of operations at ESEC SA. Chris Underhill has been appointed director of sales at ESEC (USA) Inc., Phoenix, AZ. He has nearly 15 years of sales experience in the semiconductor and related industries. Also, Greg Harding has been named Southwest regional sales manager. He was formerly with Johnson Matthey Electronics.
Epitronics Corp., Danbury, CT, a subsidiary of Advanced Technology Materials Inc. (ATMI), has appointed Michael A. Tischler VP of operations. He was director of manufacturing and technology at ATMI. Timothy F. Murray has been named director of sales and marketing. Before joining ATMI in 1995, he worked at E. I. Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Imperial Chemical Industries PLC, and AMP Inc. Also, George R. Brandes has been appointed manager of research and development. He worked at AT & T`s Bell Labs before joining ATMI in 1992.

SEMATECH, Austin, TX, has appointed David Anderson director of procurement, contracting, and supplier relations. He was formerly manager of critical materials and competitive analysis at National Semiconductor.
Frank Sinclair has been named director of engineering at the Implant Systems Division of Eaton Semiconductor Equipment Operations, Beverly, MA. He most recently served as the division`s acting director of engineering.
