Ion Systems Inc., Berkeley, CA, has named Michelle Gabriel director of manufacturing. Prior to joining Ion Systems, Gabriel was VP of operations at Powis Parker, and production manager at Compression Labs.

CVC Products Inc., Rochester, NY, has promoted Zoe Piliero to director of corporate communications. Piliero joined CVC in 1996 as corporate communications manager.

Karen McLennan has been appointed director of corporate communications at Integrated Systems Inc., Sunnyvale, CA. She was director of corporate communications at Lam Research Corp.

Camelot Systems Inc., Haverhill, MA, has named Mark E. Barden Asia/Pacific sales manager. Before joining Camelot, he sold PCB assembly equipment for Alpha Electronics in Tokyo.

SOITEC, Grenoble, France, has named Iain Murray CFO. Murray has over 20 years of experience in senior financial management in France, England, and Belgium, at companies like Abbott Laboratories, ITT Europe, and United Utilities.

Cybeq Nano Technologies, San Jose, CA, a unit of the Mitsubishi Materials Corp., has appointed Yoshio Nishino chairman, CEO, and acting COO. Nishino has served Mitsubishi for 30 years.

James M. Burns has been named president of ATMI EcoSys, San Jose, CA, an environmental equipment subsidiary of Advanced Technology Materials Inc. He was most recently executive VP and GM of the Thin-Film Division at Genus Inc.

Barry R. Rapozo has been appointed president of Tokyo Electron America Inc. (TEA), Austin, TX, a unit of Tokyo Electron Ltd. Before joining TEA, Rapozo held several senior management positions at KLA Instruments over a 14-year period.

Semifab, Hollister, CA, has named Edward Erickson director of engineering. He has 12 years of service with the Chemical Systems Division of United Technologies, where he was most recently manufacturing operations manager.

Larry T. Jordan has been named senior VP and GM of the Systems IC Division of Toshiba America Electronic Components Inc. (TAEC), Irvine, CA. Prior to joining TAEC, he served as VP of marketing at Cypress Semiconductor.

Silicon Valley Group Inc., San Jose, CA, has named Lawrence Tomlinson to its board of directors. He is VP and treasurer of Hewlett-Packard.

Mattson Technology Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed Ralph S. Martin president. He was previously executive VP and COO of the company.

KLA Instruments Corp., San Jose, CA, has appointed Lisa Berry corporate division VP and general counsel. She was previously general counsel at LSI Logic Corp.

AG Associates, San Jose, CA, has appointed Dennis Favero VP of finance and CFO. He was most recently VP of operations and CFO at Triquest Design Automation Inc.

Plasma-Therm Inc., St. Petersburg, FL, has promoted Edmond A. Richards to VP of engineering and company officer. He was formerly director of engineering at Plasma-Therm. In addition, Jay Sasserath has been named VP of strategic marketing. He was most recently an equipment supplier at Materials Research Corp.

Micron Technology Inc., Boise, ID, has announced a restructuring of its board of directors. Ed Heitzeberg has resigned, but remains as VP of design, product engineering, and quality assurance. Bill Stover has also resigned, but continues to serve as CFO and VP of finance. In addition, Tyler Lowrey has left the board and will no longer serve as COO of the company.

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., Camarillo, CA, has appointed Robert J. Cutter VP and GM of its Colorado Springs facility. Previously, Cutter was in charge of operations at Rockwell Semiconductor Systems.

Peregrine Semiconductor Corp., San Diego, CA, has named James S. Cable VP of technology and operations. He was most recently manager of technology and fab operations at Hughes Microelectronics Center. In addition, Jon Siann has been appointed director of marketing. Before joining Peregrine, he was product line manager at the Brooktree Division of Rockwell Semiconductor Systems.

SpeedFam Corp., Chandler, AZ, a wholly owned subsidiary of SpeedFam International Inc., has appointed Philbin L. Scott VP and GM of its products group. Scott joined SpeedFam in 1992, and held positions as product manager and assistant GM for the products group. In addition, Karen A. Silva has been named manager of investment relations at SpeedFam International Inc., its subsidiaries, and divisions. She was most recently assistant director at the Arizona Corp. Commission.

Asyst Technologies Inc., Fremont, CA, has appointed Gerry McFaull VP of manufacturing operations. McFaull has more than 30 years of experience, most recently as vice president of materials at Lam Research Corp.

Sid Ragona has been appointed VP of engineering at Chapman Instruments, Rochester, NY. He has over 20 years of experience in the area of surface microscopy, and most recently headed a joint project between Iowa State University and Topometrix to develop new NSOM equipment. In Sid Ragona addition, Kevin C. Thai has been named field applications engineer at the company`s San Jose, CA, office. He was previously involved in computer systems integration and electronics service and maintenance.
