CleanRooms is pleased to induct Bill Whyte into the 1999 CleanRooms Hall of Fame. Whyte has advanced the understanding of many cleanroom subject areas from garmenting procedures to standards to flooring by writing more than 100 works on cleanrooms during his 35-year career.

Whyte is currently a research fellow in the mechanical engineering department at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He is general secretary of the Scottish Society for Contamination Control, which he founded. He is a member of the British Standards Committee involved with the writing of cleanroom standards in the UK. He is also technical secretary to ISO TC 209 Working Group 5, which is writing the ISO cleanroom standard on cleanroom operations, as well as a member of ISO TC 209 Working Group 2, which is writing cleanroom standards on biocontamination.

The CleanRooms Hall of Fame was established to honor individuals who have made unique and lasting contributions to the development and advancement of contamination control technology. Nominations are made by CleanRooms readers to the magazine's Editorial Advisory Board, which selects the inductee.
