Softwall cleanrooms provide a contamination-controlled environment with built-in flexibility at relatively low cost. For those who anticipate changing cleanroom requirements, these products represent a viable alternative to dedicating a fixed-hardwall-cleanroom space. They can be used anywhere you want to subdivide, compartmentalize, seal in or seal out. Indeed, most rooms are rated (and can be upgraded) for ISO Class 3 through 8 (Class 100 through 100,000) and are offered in many sizes and configurations.

Particularly appealing is that softwall cleanrooms are usually easily expandable and movablesome can be mounted on casters and rolled into position. Generally, manufacturers will design each softwall cleanroom to fit specific user requirements.

A number of optional features can be added to most products to suit the intended application. For example, Air Control Inc. offers amber lighting and curtain for photolithographic processes, while FP Technologies provides UVC germicidal lamps for microorganism control. Still others offer tear-drop lighting, fire-suppression systems, temperature and humidity control, Velcro strips for sealing and more.
