You know the old adage: When you're not sure how to tackle a particular problem, surround yourself with people who are sure, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

At CleanRooms "those people" comprise our Editorial Advisory Board. This is a group assembled to represent all facets of contamination control.

In the case of CleanRooms magazine, web site, shows and conferences, their expertise keeps our content on target and ultimately allows us to maintain our status as the number-one information source in the cleanrooms industry.

But like every standing board, it's good to mix up the personalities and disciplines to match certain situations; and with the expected implementation of the ISO Standards in the US coming down the pike, we've added people who can guide us through the change. Please join me in welcoming Anne Marie Dixon, Dr. Ken Goldstein and Jan Eudy to our editorial board.

There aren't many people in our business who haven't been effected by Anne Marie's work. In the contamination control business since 1976, she is head of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC 209 and represents American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as the head of the U.S. delegation to ISO Technical Committee 209, "Cleanroom and Associated Controlled Environments." She is past president of the Institute for Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) and a Fellow of the IEST. She chairs two IEST working groups, and her presentation "Cleanrooms 101" is one of the staples at CleanRooms conferences. When she's not involved in an ancillary project, she is a managing partner of Cleanroom Management Associates Inc. (Carson City, NV), a consultancy and training firm.

A veteran of CleanRooms conferences, one of our steady "Unfiltered" columnists and no stranger to the IEST working groups, Dr. Ken Goldstein is a principal with Cleanroom Consultants Inc. (Scottsdale, AZ), a planning and design firm specializing in cleanrooms and ultrahigh purity systems. He is a senior member of the IEST and is active in Working Group (WG)-012 (cleanroom design) and WG-028 (minienvironments).

And with Jan Eudy stepping into Bob Mielke's role of Technical Vice President, Contamination Control of the IEST, Jan assumes Bob's role on our board. Jan holds voting status in IEST WG-003 (cleanroom garments), WG-022 (electrostatic charge in cleanrooms), and WG-032 (packaging materials). Jan is also secretary of WG-023 and works with Cleanroom Resources (Newburgh, NY) as quality assurance manager. Jan will also present a new course on cleanroom gowning protocol at this year's CleanRooms West which will be taking place in San Jose, CA, October 8-10.
