A comprehensive look at contamination control

BOSTON—As a means toward staying abreast of new cleanroom design and construction methods, cleanrooms engineers should take in some of the 24 new conference sessions at CleanRooms East next month. Some of the new programs include:

· "Improving and Troubleshooting Cleanroom HVAC System Designs," presented by George Lei, Fluid Dynamics Solutions Inc. (Clackamas, OR).

· "Web-Track: Meeting the Cleanroom Needs of the Changing Optical Networking Industry at Web Speed," presented by Julius Gombos, of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, Inc. (St. Louis), et al.

· "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Airborne Molecular Contamination Control," presented by Chris Muller, Purafil Inc. (Doraville, GA)

· "Effective Contamination Control in Critical Manufacturing Environments," presented by Howard Siegerman and Caroline Hoffman, of The Texwipe Co. LLC (Upper Saddle River, NJ).

· "Selecting a Cleanroom Design/ Construction Team, presented by Thomas Hansz and Aaron Hansz, of Facility Planning & Resources. (Pittsburgh).

Other conference and tutorial sessions will address cleanroom basics, contamination and microbiological monitoring and control, safety practices, gowning, packaging and standards.

The location of CleanRooms East 2001, which will be held in Boston, March 12-14, sets the tone for the event. Boston is recognized globally as a hub of revolutionary research, development and production of a slew of technologies from semiconductors to pharmaceuticals to aerospace and defense electronics to optoelectronics.
