Kappler and 3M join forces to develop microporous film and fabric markets

Guntersville, AL — Kappler, a producer of industrial protective apparel, has signed an exclusive worldwide agreement with 3M to develop products and markets based on microporous film and fabric technology. The venture underscores the impact microporous fabrics have on global protective apparel markets. Both companies hold patents for the technology, which is the foundation of a new generation of protective fabrics that breathe while providing improved barrier protection. Bruce Baird, 3M`s U.S. and international business planning manager, says: “We know from Kappler`s efforts in the industrial apparel category that end-users are asking for more choices — better protection, increased comfort, and other benefits. With Kappler`s expertise, 3M is excited about the potential for microporous film and fabric technology.”

Under the exclusive agreement, Kappler will have worldwide rights to purchase and market the 3M line of branded, microporous products for industrial safety apparel markets. It will also have non-exclusive rights to 3M products for the healthcare and consumer markets globally. While the relationship between 3M and Kappler is technically a “supply agreement,” it also represents a formal process of technology transfer between the two companies.

I would like a contact person with whom I could discuss receiving samples of your material. We need liquid H2O barrier with transmission of H2O vapor. The microporous film would need to be heat sealable.
    Thank you for your attention.
